Useful tips

Specifying width and contrast in Magnetic Lasso

This is a very useful tool when it comes to punctual and automated selections. But you need exercising to learn how to use it. Here’s a few tips on how to get started.

  • Setting the width: this way the tool will work only up until the selected distance from the pointer. You can quickly change it by pressing Caps Lock and use the left and right bracket to increase or decrease the width.
  • Contrast: while this tool prefers high contrast the new version of Photoshop can set the sensitivity to contrast detection between 1 and 100%. this way even if the contrast is not razor-sharp the tool will be able to detect it.
